We believe that recent advancements in machine learning are redrawing the conceptual boundaries that have long structured product development. Yet most current product practices remain tethered to frameworks built for Software 1.0. To truly adapt to the genAI paradigm, product teams must abandon static roadmaps in favor of high-velocity learning cycles grounded in efficient, real-time collaboration.
This shift from deterministic planning to exploratory experimentation not only embraces the intrinsic uncertainty of AI systems but also enables teams to work with—rather than against—the evolving affordances of large models.
At Reflexive Codes, we collaborate closely with AI product teams to build bespoke frameworks for iterative experimentation. These frameworks enable teams to work better together and fold contingencies back into the product development process by developing adaptive vernaculars for dialogic innovation. Drawing on design methods, ethnomethodology, and grounded theory, we delineate bounded contexts for exploration, constructing ideal end-states that can be achieved iteratively through the triad of speculation, critique, and empirical experimentation.
